A chi non è capitato di guardare il paesaggio dietro ad un vetro durante una giornata di pioggia? Le scie lasciate dalle gocce di acqua sul cristallo creano una distorsione, affascinante, della realtà.
Questa serie di foto (through the glass) è stata realizzata nella città di Bari, e ritrae luoghi ben noti, quali il palazzo Mincuzzi, il teatro Petruzzelli, il lungomare con gli iconici lampioni, che vengono filtrati attraverso il parabrezza lavato dal temporale.
Il mondo continua ad essere fuori, al di là del cristallo, ma la realtà viene amplificata o deformata a seconda dell’effetto che le scie di acqua conferiscono al paesaggio.
La magia, a volte tetra a volte sublime, della pioggia conferisce allo scenario un’atmosfera diversa. Si crea una sorta di effetto filtro con saturazione anche accentuata delle luci.
Un grande scrittore russo ha detto “non essere in collera con la pioggia, semplicemente non sa cadere verso l’alto”. Attraverso questa serie di scatti ho voluto enfatizzare un messaggio diametralmente opposto. La pioggia aggiunge nuove ed intense sfumature alla città. Non è più un impiccio per il fotografo, diventa al contrario un’opportunità per guardare il “solito” paesaggio in un modo nuovo.
Una peculiarità che emerge ancor di più da questi scatti già intrisi di malinconia è la figura umana che in questo contesto appare maggiormente parte dell’insieme. Non più elemento di disturbo o di caratterizzazione ma parte integrante del paesaggio stesso.

This set of photos( through the glass) has been realized in the city of Bari, and portrays well known places like Palazzo Mincuzzi, the Teatro Petruzzelli, the seafront with its iconic streetlights, which are filtered through the windshield washed by the thunderstorm. The world keeps staying outside, beyond the crystal, but the reality is amplified and distorted depending on the effect the trails of water confer to the landscape.
The magic of the rain, sometimes gloomy and sometimes sublime, gives the scenario a different atmosphere. It creates a sort of filter effect with saturation accentuated by the lights.
A peculiarity that emerges even more from these shots already tinged with melancholy is the human figure that appears in this context primarily part of the whole. It’s no longer a disturbing or characterization element, as it could be in any other street photo, but an integral part of the landscape itself.
The human figure becomes ethereal, strips itself of its recognizable features, which make it usually unique, turning it into anonymous, set in the context of what happens beyond the glass.
