Cos'è il paesaggio? La definizione letterale è porzione di territorio come appare al nostro sguardo. Ma diventa molto più complesso quando si tratta di una definizione artistica. Qui possiamo trovare un paesaggio incantevole, melanconico, squallido, fino alla più disprezzata dai fotografi,quella di paesaggio da cartolina.
Alla fine però tutto rimanda alla sua prima essenza, quello che appare al nostro sguardo. Così è nato Unexpected Landscape, il mio sguardo è andato a cercare quelle porzioni di territorio, che conoscevo, ma che fino ad oggi non avevo mai associato al paesaggio. Nel mio esplorare, mi è apparso chiaramente, che sì conoscevo il luogo, ma che non l’avevo mai guardato nella maniera adeguata. La rivelazione è stata immediata, quando ai miei occhi si aprì quel paesaggio brullo e lunare, i suoi alberi morti, che avevo visto decine di volte, ma che in quel preciso momento, e con quella luce, si rivelavano davanti a me in maniera del tutto nuova. Così un semplice incendio di sterpaglie, il vuoto di un parcheggio, la malinconia di un lago, o la forza espressiva delle nuvole, quasi un Equivalent di Stieglitz, hanno aperto nuovi mondi da esplorare. Quella porzione di territorio diventava la ricerca di un particolare, di una luce o di una sensazione. Unexpected Landscape è un lavoro open che evolverà nel futuro, creando un corpus di fotografie di un paesaggio decodificato come tale, ma che comunque porta con sé, quel qualcosa di inaspettato.

What is the landscape? The literal definition is a portion of territory as it appears to our gaze. But it gets much more complex when it comes to an artistic definition. Here we can find an enchanting, melancholy, squalid landscape, up to the most despised by photographers, that of a postcard landscape.In the end, however, everything refers to its first essence, what appears to our gaze.
Thus was born Unexpected Landscape, my gaze went to seek those portions of territory, which I knew, but which until now I had never associated with the landscape.In my exploration, it immediately appeared to the eye that yes, I knew the place, but that I had never looked at it properly. The revelation was immediate, when that barren and lunar landscape opened to my eyes, with its dead trees, which I had seen dozens of times, but which at that precise moment, and with that light, opened in front of me in a manner completely new. So a simple fire of brushwood, the emptiness of a parking lot, the melancholy of a lake, or the expressive force of the clouds, almost a Stieglitz Equivalent, opened up new worlds for me to explore.
All this became a way of seeing the landscape with new eyes, that portion of the territory became the search for a detail, a light or a sensation. Unexpected Landscape is an open work that will evolve in the future, creating a corpus of photographs of a landscape that has been decoded as such, but which nevertheless carries with it that something unexpected.
